I tried your latest calibration on the S95D and it seemed too dark, I think the cause is that I couldn't adjust the Gamma, it wouldn't let me adjust the one you suggested...

I wont argue your tastes and color settings. I actually own a panasonic oled from 2018 with personal settings that are much brighter and with more pop than a lot of more recent Oleds in filmmaker mode. So I wouldn't say I'm a purist. But you never talk about cinematography , only criticizing standards , colors being true to life , contrast etc.... Cinematographers make esthetic choices not only based on those criterias. They're seeking to convey certain feelings , sensations, a particular mood. I'm sorry , but this particular scene in pirates is supposed to look green . I watched it recently in theater during a pirates marathon, and kinda remembered it this way. So I checked on multiple screens : my phone , an ipad pro , my G14 laptop with an oled screen , my panasonic Oled ,and my new S90c in filmmaker mode tweaked to be brighter and with colors "calibrated" to my taste in rec2020 instead of the default dcip3. I found a lot of variations in terms shadow detail , contrast , the way each pannel tonemapped it. But it was always greenish , same way I remembered it in theater. And to me it makes sense , I get what kind of feeling the cinematographer was going for in this scene : a feeling of uneasiness , weirdness.... It's not about popping colors and realithm. Another example : Janusz Kamiński cinematography in minority report . I mean it would make no sense trying to bring back contrast and color saturation to this movie . It is supposed to look like that. Granted , none of my screens look as bad as your G4 , and since I don't own that tv , I can't comment on it . And I'm all for it when it comes to put to use modern tv capabilities , boosting brightness , details etc.... But not at the expense of cinematography. I stand by it , in my experience with this particular scene in pirates , although your settings look nice , they are off . Not in terms of pure picture quality , like brightness or contrast, I could'nt care less. But because the lighting of this particuliar scene is supposed to be greenish, and for a reason. Anyway , on the other hand we're just talking about tv's , and everybody is just free to watch content however they want :) .Just thought it would be interesting to talk about cinematography as a reminder that we're watching movies , not pannels . I am sorry but the G4 looks really bad compared to the C1. The image is like 720p compared to a tack sharp 4K on the C1 if you select 2160p, at 1440p it looks like almost a 4k vs 480p difference. The C1 simply looks amazing in all categories, more color, more contrast, more defined picture, better clarify, more 3D. I knew it would be like this. If the C1 won in terms of sharpness against the G3, then it would still win against the G4. Thank you for these in depth comparisons that tell a whole different story. One question: how about a C4 against the C1 comparison somewhere in the future?

I've had the S95D for 2 months and it's the brightest OLED this year. But the OCB issues at 40 Gbps are tricky and especially if you're a PC gamer, switching sources always takes 5-8 seconds and I had 3 dropouts. And the matte finish makes the picture look washed out during the day and a bit blurry in the evening, which I absolutely don't like! I now have the S90D and it's just so much better! Everything looks so crystal clear and the full bandwidth of 48 Gbps is a blessing!

Hey Q, did you notice any near black smearing on the QM8? I’m thinking of pulling the trigger on a 55 QM7 which has similar specs, but CANNOT handle back smear. The Hisense U8K was so horribly bad at it it almost scared me off LED entirely.

What game system are you playing on? Are you using a splitter? I’ve watched your videos, I hear you in certain aspects, but it appears you are hell bent on destroying the g4. Just would like to have a conversation no hate.

I just went today to the Samsung store, and the S95D matte finish is fantastic it's not like the frame matte finish it's way better don't juge by UA-cam videos go see yourself. Even with all the lights in the store, it wasn't that bad next to the S90D. The colours look day and night difference between my LG CX and the S90,95d.

Picked up a 77 inch to replace a aging 65 inch lcd samsung. Ive wanted an OLED for some time and this tv has had a lot of accolades for the price. This is going to be quite a massive upgrade for me.

I always use color gamut to "Native" in PS5 and all colors start to pop

Can this be used while watching Netflix on my Xbox ? Since it’s on HDMI ? One more is that what if your watching thru an app from the tv Netflix do you also have a settings that it will pop out like this ?

The one connect box is absolute garbage, has less bandwidth than the tv ports therefor periodically cuts out which is extremely annoying, trust me Iv been through it, and it’s still a problem with the one connect in 2024, you’ve been warned.

Hi! Which TV gets hotter? S95D or G4? Which of these two TVs has the more aggressive ABL? Which technology is less prone to burn in, QD-OLED or WRGB-OLED. Is the difference between QD-OLED and WRGB-OLED noticeable when watching HD TV channels, in SDR?

Feels like being that this video is 11 months old and the TV has been out for so long now u should drop the setting video for how u got such a nice picture for gaming. Just a suggestion.

It's really interesting to see some of these old king of kings panels go up against today's best. I bet you if you put the G4 side-by-side with the Q8fn, the Q8fn takes it- Please do it man.

The more I look at your comparison videos with the C1 the more I regret purchasing the G4 😔 Do you think you’ll be able to work your magic and calibrate the G4 to at least come close to the C1? Or have we just made the biggest mistake of our lives and wasted all that hard earned money for trash?

I think it's the MLA tech. The way most youtubers talked about the S95D, I had completely rejected it as an option early on and started to look solely at the G4, QN900D, A95L, Bravia 9 with a chance to go with the S90D amd wait for a flagship next year. Then after a bunch of side by sides, it became apparent to me that those reviews had to be about commissions only as the S95D simply blew the competition for gaming. With the S90D being in the ballpark, those third gen panels had a night and day difference in how games were represented. The matte screen proved to be a non-issue in the dark and it handled reflections so much better than glossy when I had the lights on. I just felt as if these reviewers were doing everything in their power to angle every nook and cranny to justify their biases toward the G4, Bravia 9 and whatever wasn't Samsung. It's been a WILD year so far.

I think the microlens layer LG is putting over OLED to increase brightness from 2023 is actually causing some light deformation and thus G4 is losing fine details. In this case C3 should the same issue.
